Wimbledon enacts ban
The famous summer tennis competition has banned Russian and Belarusian players from participating. Daniil Medvedev of Russia, the world's second-ranked player, and Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, the women's world No. 4, are among those affected. Wimbledon is the first tennis tournament to block individuals from participating due to the Ukraine conflict.
Unionizing the genius bar
Workers at an Apple Store in Atlanta became the company's first to seek unionization. The Communications Workers of America, which has roughly 70 percent support among the 100 eligible workers at the location, including salespeople and technicians, has signed up nearly all of them to become members. This weekend, employees of another Apple shop in NYC stated that they were seeking signatures to create a labor organization in order to secure a $30 per hour minimum wage and improved benefits.
Festival fail
Last weekend, Revolve hosted an invite-only event near Coachella that catered to influencers. However, according to reports about the event, Revolve's poor planning resulted in attendees being stranded in the desert heat while waiting for shuttles. Some said they saw individuals pass out and likened the entire situation to Fyre Festival. Revolve apologized for what happened.
