The Week Ahead: March 21

SCOTUS, Brussels and Oscars. It looks like an eventful week.

Historical SCOTUS hearings

The confirmation hearings for Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Obama's choice for Supreme Court Justice, begin today and will continue through Thursday. If confirmed, she would become the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court. Here is what you can anticipate from the hearings.

Biden Eurotrip

President Biden is on his way to Brussels for a special NATO meeting with 30 other world leaders. They'll debate the Ukrainian war and note the camaraderie they've shown so far through the conflict.

The Academy Awards

The Academy Awards are on Sunday. You likely didn't watch last year's telecast (it was the lowest-rated ever), so this year's show will appear even more surprising.  The Oscars will be hosted by three women: Regina Hall, Amy Schumer, and Wanda Sykes, following three years of going hostless.

Everything else:

  • The March Madness tournaments continue. If you’re not on the Saint Peter’s bandwagon already, there’s still room to jump on.
  • New seasons of Atlanta and Bridgerton start this week.
  • This week is peak bloom time for the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC.
