The Week Ahead: March 1

Inflation is rising, new Apple tech is dropping, and clocks are springing forward.

The Week Ahead: March 1

On Thursday, the consumer price index is released, the most important economic report of the month. If inflation at 40-year highs isn't scary enough, Russia's invasion of Ukraine has the potential to deliver a severe jolt by pushing energy prices higher. The average cost of gas in the United States hit $4 a gallon for the first time since 2008 this past weekend.

Apple event

On Tuesday, the tech giant, Apple, is expected to introduce new versions of the iPhone SE, iPad, and Mac computer.

Spring forward

We'll all lose an hour of sleep on Saturday night, but it's for a good purpose: Daylight saving time begins and it will, at last, be light out when we're done work.

Everything else:

  • Tuesday is International Women’s Day.
  • Friday is the two year anniversary since the WHO declared the Covid-19 global pandemic.
  • “Selection Sunday” for the March Madness basketball tournament is Sunday
