According to an internal Meta document viewed by the Wall Street Journal, people spend 17.6 million hours a day watching Instagram Reels, which is only a fraction of the 197.8 million hours wasted daily on TikTok. Even though Reels might appear constantly in users' feeds, engagement has been trending downward and dropped 13.6% from July to August.

After releasing a study revealing that 50 million people are enslaved today—28 million in forced labor and 22 million in forced marriages in 2021. The director-general of the UN's labor standards agency called for an "all-hands-on-deck" approach to combating modern slavery. That's 10 million more than in 2016.
