The news from Bloomberg is the best illustration yet of how expensive purchasing a home has become this year. With mortgage rates at 3% in early 2021, if you wanted to spend $2,500 per month on a property, you could buy a house for $758,572. Now that mortgage rates are more than twice that amount, the same monthly payment would buy you a home for $476,425.


“Maybe Oprah would be interested in joining the Twitter board if my bid succeeds.”

The release of Elon Musk's texts included many explosive messages, such as one to CBS anchor Gayle King floating the idea of Oprah Winfrey as a Twitter board member. Other notable exchanges include Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison pledging $1 billion to Musk's take-private bid because "it would be lots of fun" and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey endorsing Musk's attempted takeover because "It's too critical for humanity."
