The International Federation of Robotics recently released updated data that reveals there are currently 3.5 million industrial robots in operation around the world--this number is greater than the populations of every US city except for New York and Los Angeles. With labor markets becoming increasingly scarce, the rise of robotics is changing manufacturing as we know it: In 2021, half of all new factory robot installations occurred in China, which has established itself as a major player in the manufacturing industry due largely to its vast human labor population.

At the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy ceremony in NYC last week, Dolly Parton spoke about her giving strategy. While keeping a low profile, Parton has used her money to make a difference, like financing Covid-19 vaccine research, covering the band uniform expenses for Tennessee high school students, and sending 2 million free books each month to kids five and under.
