A ferocious fire in Yosemite National Park is threatening a grove of 500+ massive sequoia trees, one of which (named Grizzy Giant) is 3,000 years old. Lightning-sparked blazes have damaged up to 20% of the estimated 75,000 big sequoias over the last two years, according to AP data. They're by far the biggest trees on Earth by volume.


“My baby girl is right here. She is a person.”

Brandy Bottone, a resident of Texas, was pulled over by cops while driving in the HOV lane and asked if anyone else was inside (you need at least two people to drive in that lane). As she was 34 weeks pregnant, she stated that her baby girl was. After receiving a ticket from the officer, Bottone informed the Dallas Morning News that she'd be fighting it in court, according to experts, making what is expected to be a one-of-a-kind legal case. According to Texas state penal code, a fetus is considered a person; however, its transportation code does not agree.
